dance dance dance

/ kate moss in vogue via suicide blonde /
happy to say our dance performance went really well last weekend! it was so familiar putting on extra layers of eye liner, making sure every last hair was in the right place, straightening each others' costumes, running through last minute changes to the dance and peaking at the audience from the wings.

pulled out the bright red lipstick and giant rhinestone earrings i wore for my last performance of nutcracker's snow :) our whole class was having a great time re-living our stage experiences, but we were all in agreement that it was nowhere near as stressful or intense as when we were younger. i'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing; we all had a great time nonetheless. i'll make sure to post our group shot once i get it from my classmate sarah.

the way of the owl

/ ruru by flox /
i just finished reading wesley the owl - the remarkable love story of an owl and his girl. while it wasn't the most eloquently written book, it was a great story of a baby owl who got a second chance by being raised by a biologist named stacey. to someone who has never worked with wildlife, it may seem like a completely outrageous story, but to those who have, it was nothing out of the ordinary at all. i'd recommend if you're in need of a heart-warming, easy to read story or if you just want some insight into the (often out of the ordinary) life of a wildlife biologist.

the ruru (or morepork) pictured above is nz's only native owl species. check out the flox website for more amazing floral and wildlife artwork.
