the way of the owl

i just finished reading wesley the owl - the remarkable love story of an owl and his girl. while it wasn't the most eloquently written book, it was a great story of a baby owl who got a second chance by being raised by a biologist named stacey. to someone who has never worked with wildlife, it may seem like a completely outrageous story, but to those who have, it was nothing out of the ordinary at all. i'd recommend if you're in need of a heart-warming, easy to read story or if you just want some insight into the (often out of the ordinary) life of a wildlife biologist.

the ruru (or morepork) pictured above is nz's only native owl species. check out the flox website for more amazing floral and wildlife artwork.
